For the second weekend in a row, Duryea and Avoca Fire Depts, along with Plains Twp Rescue tackled another technical rescue training senario.  This time we made the short trek to West Avoca for a trench rescue drill.  Working as a team, the crews first discussed the size-up information as well as identifying the various hazards that exist in this type of emergency. Crews then laid the ground pads and removed sections of the spoil pile for a safe working area.  Next would be placing the four trench panels and air shores to secure the walls of the trench.  Crews would train for nearly four hours before placing all of the equipment back in service.  The depts are planning another training drill to expand on what was accomplished today.
